I hope that my work container gardening encourages more urban residents to maximise on their unique growing spaces like a balcony garden. In turn we will see the benefits to urban wildlife, biodiversity but also mental health.

How Do We Make Our Towns & Cities Greener?
Jason Williams, also known as, “The Cloud Gardener” is one of 134 new Churchill Fellows announced by the charity, the Churchill Fellowship. These exceptional individuals come from across the UK representing different backgrounds, experiences, professions, and passions, all united by a common aspiration to inspire change and build a better society based on global learning.
Jason will travel across Europe & Asia researching urban greenspaces. On his return, Jason will report his findings to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, with the hopes that some of his research will be implemented into policy across the region and then nationally. As well as, sharing his findings with the leadership team of the Royal Horticultural Society and other leading horticultural organizations.

About Me
How It All Began..
My name is Jason Williams. I am multi-award winning farden deisgner, based in Manchester. I moved into my apartment in March 2020. Then the pandemic hit. Lockdown turned from days, to weeks then slowly to months. My balcony became an escape. It went from 1 marigold to a mini paradise.
However, I slowly learned that balcony gardening has it's own challenges. There was little to no representation online discussing the difficulties balcony gardening. So I decided to make a Youtube Channel documenting my learnings to help others with container gardening. My channel then became an outlet for me to express my struggles with Mental Health.
The more I shared, the more I realised that my honesty resonated with people. The channel grew rapidly and has expanded across all forms of social media, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even TikTok. I have turned Cloud Gardener UK into a brand and my mission is to continue to recruit more urban container gardeners and show people "How to start a small space garden" specifically focusing on renters
